About the Journal
Studies on National Movements (SNM) is an international online and peer-reveiwed journal, devoted to the comparative historiography of national and regional movements in Europe and the theory formation of nationalism. The journal focuses on comparative, transnational and transfer studies, with special attention to non-English language theoretical works and case studies, as well as to heuristic and archival matters. Multidisciplinary in approach, SNM's scope includes history, political science, sociology, geography and cultural studies.
SNM is published, twice a year, by NISE, the platform for scholars as well as research and heritage institutes. The journal has an editorial board, consisting of renowned experts in nationalism studies. The board appoints referees in a blind peer-review procedure. All contributions should be original and in accordance with scientific methodology. Copy editing is taken care of by the NISE Coordination Centre.
Studies on National Movements (SNM) provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There are no publication charges, and all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author for non-commercial purposes. Nonetheless, reproduction, posting, transmission or other distribution or use of the article or any material therein requires credit to the original publication source with a link to both the article and the license. This open access policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative's (BOAI) definition of open access.
Content published in Studies on National Movements will be preserved digitally by ADVN|Archive for national movements. Content will be preserved indefinitely, unless a specific request for removal of a specific item is directed to the journal managers.
